Welcome to The Lazy Lady, an urban flower garden nestled in the heart of Austin, texas.

the lazy lady was founded by a fifth-generation Texan with a passion for cultivating both the land and the local community.

who is the lazy lady?

the lazy lady spent the last two decades working for local landmarks including, the university of texas at austin, the blanton museum of art, the harry ransom center, the contemporary austin, creative action, the junior league of austin and indeed.com. the lazy lady was also an early contributor to local art collectives, helped found a beloved nonprofit music festival, and spent years educating central texas youth as a trained teaching artist.

why are you “lazy”?

decades of hard work and dedication to her community culminated in a desire for slower living following a period of illness and isolation during the covid-19 pandemic.

after receiving a diagnosis of ptsd, chronic pain and fatigue (cfd), the lazy lady embraced her “laziness” and channeled it into a new endeavor: an urban cut flower garden and community gathering space where neighbors can meet and learn together about adapting to the changing environment.

we challenge our community to rethink “laziness” in an ever-changing world.

We love collaborating with our community, so don’t hesitate to reach out with your questions, suggestions, or collaboration ideas.

Thank you for supporting The Lazy Lady, where every plant we grow is a step toward a more beautiful violet crown city.
